PAINLESSLY TREAT CAVITIES IN SPRING, TX

Say goodbye to dental cavities for good with our talented dentists on your side

Nearly everyone gets at least one dental cavity in their life. Plaque, bacteria, and tartar can gradually build up on your smile even with great brushing and flossing habits. Over time, they will wear away at your tooth’s enamel, turning into tooth decay and eventually a painful cavity. The longer a cavity goes untreated, the greater the possibility of needing more intensive procedures, such as root canals or extractions. At Nu Dentistry Spring, our caring dentists waste no moment to take care of your decayed smile with a painless cavity filling. From the first tooth decay symptoms, our expert dental team is ready to get your smile back into shape and to full health. What does a cavity look like? While early tooth decay shows itself with white tooth spots, cavities cause those spots to darken and eventually form holes in the tooth’s surface. A toothache can appear, along with tooth sensitivity and chronic bad breath. Seeing our dentists as soon as possible allows us to help you get the cavity relief you need when you need it. Our dental office uses the latest tools and technology to not only ensure your treatment is a complete success but that it will be quick and painless too. Along with standard local anesthetic, we also have dental sedation to make your experience as relaxing and comfortable as possible. Even in a dental emergency, we want you to enjoy your time with us. Stay confident knowing you’re in the best hands for the job here in Spring. Don’t wait to get your painful cavity looked at by our incredible team! HOW BAD IS YOUR CAVITY?

Our dentists are here to help you from the first signs of a developing tooth cavity

STAGE 1: DEMINERALIZATION

When tooth decay first appears, it shows itself as white spots on the enamel. Dental plaque and bacteria demineralize and weaken the tooth. At this early stage, the damage can be reversed with proper brushing and flossing habits and fluoride treatment.

STAGE 2: ENAMEL DECAY

With the enamel weakened, tooth decay can begin attacking and wearing down the tooth’s surface. This can lead to small cavities. What is a cavity? A dental cavity is the hole in your tooth left behind by tooth decay. Once they form, good dental hygiene won’t be enough to fix the damage. Only a dental filling can restore your tooth.

STAGE 3: DENTIN DECAY

Once the cavity breaks through the enamel surface, it begins wearing down the tooth’s dentin layer below. Dentin is softer and more vulnerable than enamel, so you may notice some tooth sensitivity to hot and cold foods as the decay deepens.

STAGE 4: DENTAL PULP INFECTION

After the dentin is the pulp. The pulp is the tooth’s center, running down the roots to the tooth’s tip. It contains the tooth’s blood vessels and nerves, and a painful toothache often appears at this stage as a warning sign that your tooth’s life is in danger.

STAGE 5: ABSCESS FORMATION

Once the decay makes it to the tooth’s tip, it can spill into the surrounding tissues to create a pocket of infection and pus called an abscess. Abscesses are incredibly painful and should be safely drained by a dentist. If the abscess bursts on its own, it can lead to serious health issues.

WHAT TO EXPECT: YOUR DENTAL FILLING PROCEDURE

Count on our expert dental professionals to restore your teeth to their former glory

Our dentists can treat your tooth cavity quickly and efficiently, so it isn't the end of the world (or your smile) if you get one. First, we’ll numb the area around your tooth, so your treatment is entirely painless. Our office employs special technologies like Dentapen and DentalVibe that make applying the local anesthetic more comfortable and relaxing than usual. From there, we can remove the decay using cutting-edge equipment and devices before sanitizing and filling your tooth. At Nu Dentistry Spring, our dentists take a cosmetic approach to all of our treatments. When we treat your cavities, we always want them to look and feel as good as they were at full health. We use dental composite color-matched to your tooth for our dental fillings. This ensures your repaired tooth looks just as natural as it did before. Composite resin is applied in layers, each hardened with a UV light until your tooth is fully remade. We’ll then reshape the filling so that your tooth’s shape and bite is precisely restored.

Dental Implants

When expertly performed, dental implants are one of the best options of permanently restoring missing teeth. Dental implants function as a substitute for your tooth's natural root. This prevents bone deterioration. Apart from that, having dental implants as replacement teeth will maintain the health of all the adjacent teeth helping you preserve your existing teeth. When cared for and maintained properly, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Cavities & Fillings FAQ

Cavities don’t disappear on their own. They are permanent holes in your tooth that can only be fixed with professional tooth decay treatment like a filling, crown, or root canal. However, if decay is caught before a cavity appears, fluoride and diligent oral hygiene can help reverse demineralization.

Composite dental fillings typically last between 7 to 10 years on average. However, with good care and proper dental hygiene, you can extend their lifespan even longer to as many as 15 years.

Good dental hygiene isn’t just about flossing daily or brushing your teeth twice a day. Your lifestyle, including the foods you eat and how often you eat them, can make you prone to cavities. Additionally, chronic dry mouth can make it more difficult for your mouth to keep dental plaque and tooth decay at bay.

In addition to the material used, your cavity filling cost depends on several factors: the cavity’s size and extent, the number of teeth needing filling, and your dental insurance. If you have any questions about your treatment’s exact cost, please contact our office and schedule a consultation with our team.

All cavities need to be treated and filled. However, this does not always require a dental filling. With more extensive tooth decay, our dentists may instead need to perform a crown or root canal procedure to remove the diseased tissues and then fix the damage left behind.

The longer you leave a cavity untreated, the worse it will become. While a cavity first only attacks the outer enamel layer, it will continue making its way towards the tooth’s center. As the pulp is damaged, the tooth’s nerve and blood vessels will be damaged. This not only causes intense cavity pain, but it starts a ticking clock on your tooth’s life. At its worst, the tooth may die and pass the point of no return. It will need to be extracted.

The Best Dentist In Spring
Sandra Archuleta

We have been looking for a family dentist for a long time, we have tried a bunch of places but nothing felt quite like home. Not too long ago we stumbled upon Nu Dentistry and met Dr. Ali. Not only was he professional, kind, and gentle, but he always finds a way to fit us in when we need an appointment. He’s also pretty funny! I appreciate that he takes the time to explain what he’s doing, before he does it. That really puts me at ease.
