PARTIAL DENTURE VS. DENTAL BRIDGE

From dentures to bridges, our dentists are dedicated to ensuring you have the best new teeth for your smile

From dentures to bridges, our dentists are dedicated to ensuring you have the best new teeth for your smile. When replacing multiple teeth at a time, you have more than one option. Compared to partial dentures, dental bridges are a fixed option that can replace up to four missing teeth in a row. They work by attaching a dental crown to either side of your false teeth. By placing those crowns on the remaining teeth around your tooth gap, you can secure your new teeth solidly in place. Bridges are a great option for patients who want a more permanent choice than removable dentures. However, with more than four missing teeth or missing teeth that aren’t neatly lined up in a row, we recommend partial dentures instead. Partial dentures can restore as many teeth as you need in any order as long as you still have enough strong, healthy teeth to help keep them in place. Otherwise, complete dentures can replace an entire missing smile with ease. Regardless of which type of denture you need, they can look just as real and natural as bridges. Plus, on average, dentures are also more affordable than bridges. At Nu Dentistry Spring, we want our patients to always choose the best dental prosthetic for their smile. Not sure which is the right choice for you? Feel free to reach out to us at (713) 489-0538 to discuss your options with our team.

OUR REMOVABLE DENTURE OPTIONS

No two smiles are the same, so our dentists ensure your denture matches yours perfectly

PARTIAL DENTURES

Partial dentures allow our team to replace anything less than a full arch of teeth simultaneously. And unlike bridges, these teeth don’t need to be side by side to fully restore your smile to its old self. Partial dentures use your remaining teeth as well as the natural shape of your jaw and gums as their support. We can also add metal clasps for extra security.

COMPLETE DENTURES

Once you’re missing all of your teeth, partial dentures won’t be enough. You’ll need complete dentures instead. Even without natural teeth to act as their supports, your new teeth can stay right where they should by using the shape of your gums and jaw to hold them in place. With a close fit, these dentures can slip easily and comfortably in place without sliding around.

Immediate Dentures

With immediate dentures, you can walk away from your removal with brand new pearly whites. The molds are made before your extraction, rather than after as what happens with permanent dentures. However, because your bones and gums may shift over time, you may need your immediate dentures either adjusted or replaced.

Implant-Supported

Patients who want a more stabilized bite and speech can choose to have implant-supported dentures. Implants are metal posts or screws anchored and fused to your jawbone through surgery. They’re connected to your dentures by a piece called an abutment. While the implants are not removable, your replacement teeth are.

PERMANENT DENTURES: NEXT-LEVEL TOOTH REPLACEMENT

We want you to fall in love with your new smile- see if denture implants are right for you

Once teeth are extracted, the underlying jawbone starts shrinking without a tooth to root and support. Standard removable dentures are designed with this in mind, with denture repair and relinings made easy to match your changing smile. However, with implant-supported dentures, our dentists can stop this process from the get-go. Dental implants provide the same pressure as your natural teeth, and your mouth works with them to keep your permanent denture more stable and secure. It also keeps your smile healthier and whole over time. Like removable dentures, permanent dentures are flexible to patients’ needs. They can restore anywhere from a few teeth to an entire smile of missing teeth. For full-mouth implant dentures, All-On-4 is one of the most popular options. These fixed dentures anchor all of your teeth on four dental implants placed along the jaw. Best of all, a denture with implants can last decades longer than traditional dentures, potentially up to a lifetime.

Dental Implants

When expertly performed, dental implants are one of the best options of permanently restoring missing teeth. Dental implants function as a substitute for your tooth's natural root. This prevents bone deterioration. Apart from that, having dental implants as replacement teeth will maintain the health of all the adjacent teeth helping you preserve your existing teeth. When cared for and maintained properly, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Dentures FAQ

Each patient’s denture cost can vary depending on the materials used, the type of denture, the number of missing teeth, and if they need immediate dentures. Additionally, permanent dentures can have other factors involved with dental implants, including the number of implants and whether bone grafting is required. Many dentures are covered by insurance, but Nu Dentistry also offers other financing options to ensure you don’t have to worry about your treatment’s affordability.

Absolutely! Our dentures are made from high-quality white porcelain and gum-pink acrylic, so your new teeth will look just as natural as your old smile. Plus, we use molds and impressions of your mouth to ensure your denture always matches the unique shape of your smile perfectly.

While your dentures may feel comfortable enough, you shouldn’t sleep with your dentures in if they’re not fixed in place. Removing your dentures during the night gives your gums time to relax and recover after the daily pressures and force of your bite on the soft tissues. Before bed, you should also brush your dentures clean before soaking them in a denture cleaner overnight.

Yes. Dentures are incredibly versatile and can restore even a full smile of missing teeth. Complete dentures are designed to restore an entire arch of teeth simultaneously, molding themselves to your gums’ and jawbone’s natural shape to hold them steady.

Yes. In non-dental emergencies, we can prepare immediate dentures using a mold of your smile taken weeks in advance before your teeth are pulled. By your appointment time, you leave with a new set of teeth. However, immediate dentures are only temporary. After teeth are extracted, your smile will undergo rapid changes as your mouth adapts to life with missing teeth. These dentures will allow you to eat, speak, and live normally while your mouth and jaw stabilize, which usually takes between 6 and 8 weeks. From there, we will begin preparing your more permanent denture.

Dentures are great for restoring your smile’s appearance and function. Not only do they look great, but they can easily help improve your self-esteem as well as your ability to eat and speak properly. Partial dentures also prevent your remaining teeth from moving out of alignment to help fill the empty gap in your smile. Overall, dentures are also the most affordable way to replace missing teeth, especially when restoring multiple teeth at once.

The Best Dentist In Spring
Sandra Archuleta

We have been looking for a family dentist for a long time, we have tried a bunch of places but nothing felt quite like home. Not too long ago we stumbled upon Nu Dentistry and met Dr. Ali. Not only was he professional, kind, and gentle, but he always finds a way to fit us in when we need an appointment. He’s also pretty funny! I appreciate that he takes the time to explain what he’s doing, before he does it. That really puts me at ease.

Anxiety Has Kept Me Away
Johnathan Smits

I usually have such huge anxiety when I go to a dentist appointment, which means I always put off visits until the last minute to disastrous consequences. However, Dr. Loggins helped me with sedation, so the entire process was a breeze!
